Planet Ice & The Tundra Train
Once our windows at Waikiki Shopping Plaza were complete, we did a quick trip to Las Vegas for this year’s GlobalShop 2011. Will post about that later after I review my notes, but I will say the highlight of the trip was seeing the B-52’s in concert at a private party…awesome!
After getting back from the show, we jumped right into designing and installing this year’s Planet Ice at Pearlridge Center. Last year we created the environment for Dinosaurs; check out that post Here, Here & Here.
Pearlridge Center is a wonderful client; they continue to come up with exciting promotions for their customers. This summer they once again dusted off their train and hosted animatronic Ice Age creatures. Children were able to ride the train through the environments we created.
DOWNTOWN
More of a tropical feel to the surroundings, we turned the center area into a tropical forest.

UPTOWN
The center court area in the Uptown phase consisted of 2 looks: Frozen, icy conditions and a tropical setting.

Our crew, hanging out with distant relatives.
Make sure to head down to Pearlridge Center soon. This promotion ends on July 31, 2011.
Dinosaur Installation-Day Three
On the home stretch, all of the decor has been loaded in and the environments are being built. Here are some images of Day Three:

Completed set in the downtown phase.
Have a wonderful weekend. More posting on Monday.
Dinosaur Installation-Day Two
About to head out the door for Day 3, but wanted to post some images from yesterday.

Headlines: Dinosaur gives birth to man!

We “upcycled” Pearlridge Center’s christmas trees by turning the bases and frames into willow and hapu‘u trees.

Sneak peek!
Dinosaur Installation-Day One
It’s been one year since we began this blog. Thanks so much for your feedback and support, it’s been fun posting our projects and retail info we find useful.
Our first entry last year was the installation of “Giant Insects” at Pearlridge Center. Well this year it’s Dinosaurs!
CS is responsible for creating the environments in which the dinosaurs live. Over the next few days we will be posting photos of our day-to-day progress as we load in all of the props and visuals.
Today was the unloading of two 40’ containers. All dinosaurs were un-crated, moved into the mall and then pieced together by the Kokoro technicians and Pearlridge Center crew. Here are a few pix:

The fun continues tomorrow as we begin to bring in the decor and build the environments.
PEARLRIDGE GIANT INSECTS - FINAL DAY OF INSTALLATION
All done! What a great project to work on. Since the beginning, we had a great time coming up with the theme, design, sourcing and then of course installing it. I think my fav part of the set are the trees.
We re-used the malls current Christmas trees! If you take a look at the branches, they are the same ones used for holiday. We just wrapped faux-bark around the tree post. Genius!
Up early to watch the news coverage. Take a look here.
Pearlridge Giant Insect Installation-Day Three
Final day of install! Everyone happy and ready for the set to open. My dog’s are barking (aka: my feet) and in need of a manicure but it was worth all of the planning, meetings, and hard work. Thanks to our crew: Mario, Uncle Bob and Dave for doing such an outstanding job and taking care of all of the details. More photos and video soon.
PEARLRIDGE GIANT INSECTS INSTALLATION-DAY TWO
Such a looooooong day, but so worth it! Don’t want to give any magic away, but here is a photo of some of the decor going into the set. We had so much fun, it really is creating a fantasy.
Hopefully we will be complete tomorrow. I’ll be uploading photos to our Flickr account soon. Stay tuned!
Pearlridge Giant Insects Install-Day One
Well, I have to say that the off loading this morning went extremely smooth. Two 40’ containers were stationed outside the mall along with “the boys”, to help us.
All components, once unloaded, were placed in their proper locations. Some decor happened today, but only the things that needed lifts and tall ladders. Looking forward to tomorrow! That’s when the majority of the decor comes out! Take a look at our Flickr page here for more images.
